IVPN
IVPN is a small, deliberately unglamorous provider that does the privacy fundamentals properly: anonymous account IDs, open-source clients, a monthly warrant canary, self-hosted bare-metal servers, and a public refusal to run the misleading marketing everyone else runs. In May 2026 it restructured into Standard ($60/yr, 5 devices), Plus ($80/yr) and Pro Suite ($100/yr, 10 devices) tiers. The honest drawback is that it costs more than Surfshark or PIA for a much smaller network with no streaming ability and no port forwarding -- you are paying for restraint, not features.
Where it is strong
Users who want Mullvad-style anonymous accounts with a slightly broader feature set -- multi-hop routing is included on every tier, apps are open-source, and a warrant canary is published monthly.
Where it is weak
It is one of the smallest networks on this list (roughly 40 countries, largely North America and Europe) and it is close to useless for streaming. IVPN also publicly refuses to make streaming claims, which is honest but means you should not buy it for that. No port forwarding.
